Glass Fabric

Fiberglass is the most common material for the composite offering good economic ratio and good mechanical properties.

Unlike Rovings, the “silionne” yarn has been treated to facilitate weaving and draping on the mold. This treatment, also called sizing or "finish", also acts as an interface between the fiber and the resins. It is in particular for its "finish" and the quality of its weaving that Porcher Industrie has acquired its notoriety.

Glass fabrics come in different textures: canvas (taffeta), twill (mainly 2/2) and satins. The glass yarn is characterized by the number of TEXs: it corresponds to the weight of 1 kilometer of yarn (200 TEX corresponds to a glass yarn that weighs 200g / km of yarn).

The grammage (in gr / m²) is the weight of one square meter of fabric.
