Moisture-resistant industrial bonding: Born2Bond™ Aquafast

To ensure an effective bond, it is crucial to meticulously prepare the surface of the materials to be bonded before any application.

With this in mind, Samaro and its partner Socomore recommend the use of Diestone DLS. It is a chlorinated hydrocarbon-free cleaner and degreaser that evaporates quickly, providing ideal surface preparation for effective bonding.

In the demanding world of industry, the search for reliable, high-performance bonding solutions is a never-ending quest. One of the most crucial features for many professionals is moisture resistance. That’s where Born2Bond™ Aquafast comes in, a revolutionary bonding solution designed to meet the challenges of the most extreme wet and marine environments.

Born2Bond™ Aquafast’s  outstanding feature

  • Extended temperature range: With an impressive temperature range of -40°C to +120°C, the cyanoacrylate adhesive Born2Bond™ Aquafast ensures stable performance under varying thermal conditions, making it an ideal choice for a diverse range of industrial applications.

  • Ultra-fast setting: One of the most notable benefits of Born2Bond™ Aquafast is its ultra-fast set, taking just between 10 and 80 seconds depending on the gaps to be filled and the substrates. This speed of set optimises production processes and improves operational efficiency.

  • Multi-substrate adhesion: Born2Bond™ Aquafast cyanoacrylate has good bonding properties on a very wide range of materials (except polyolefins) such as plastics, rubbers and excellent adhesion on metals (18 Mpa on sandblasted mild steel) including aluminium.

  • Ability to fill minimal gaps: With an ability to fill gaps of up to 0.1mm maximum, Born2Bond™ Aquafast ensures a strong bond even in the most demanding conditions, ensuring optimum structural integrity.

  • Exceptional moisture and immersion resistance: Born2Bond™ Aquafast is specially formulated to withstand humid atmospheres and even immersion, including in seawater. This feature makes it a preferred choice for applications exposed to wet or corrosive environments.
This adhesive is also highly resistant to most solvents and oils.

Curing conditions and application techniques

Born2Bond™ Aquafast has unique properties that make it a versatile choice for a variety of industrial applications. With a viscosity of 150 mPas that facilitates precise application, this single-component adhesive offers instant setting and remains translucent after curing, rather useful for applications where aesthetics are paramount, with glass for example.

For optimum results, it is recommended that Born2Bond™ Aquafast is applied to clean, dry surfaces.

Once the substrates have been bonded, it shows good ageing under water at 60°C.

Industrial applications for Born2Bond™ Aquafast

Born2Bond™ Aquafast finds applications in a multitude of industrial sectors, including:

  • Electronics and domestic appliances: for sealing and bonding into electronic components and domestic appliances.

  • Outdoor lighting: provides a robust bond for luminaires exposed to the elements.

  • Power tools: For power tools used in damp environments or in contact with water (including seawater).

  • Sanitary and kitchen equipment: For fitting and sealing sanitary fittings and kitchen equipment.

  • Outdoor sports and water sports equipment: For sports and leisure equipment used outdoors such as camping or in marine environments.

  • Automotive: For interior and exterior applications in the automotive industry.

To conclude, Born2Bond™ Aquafast offers a revolutionary bonding solution for the most demanding environments. With its ultra-fast cure, exceptional resistance to moisture and immersion, and ability to fill minimal gaps, this product is a preferred choice for a diverse range of industrial applications.
