Anaerobic adhesive approved for hydrogen contact – Permabond F201HV
Our partner Permabond® has developed a new anaerobic adhesive approved for hydrogen contact according to the KIWA Inorm KE214 standard. Hydrogen is an extremely explosive, high-energy, self-seeking gas. This is a breakthrough for the gas industry, which is now looking to blend hydrogen with natural gas for domestic supplies to counter gas shortages and reduce costs for customers.
Hydrogen molecules are much smaller than natural gas and much more sensitive, as well as being more explosive. It is therefore essential that all pipe joints or gas fittings be properly sealed to prevent leaks with an approved sealant.
Permabond F201HV can be applied to threaded metal pipe assemblies that screw together or can be used on concentric metal parts that fit together.
Because of its reinforcements, unlike conventional anaerobic fastener adhesives, Permabond F201 HV is not brittle and will deform to expand and contract with the joint. This allows dissimilar metals, such as brass over copper, to be sealed because the sealant absorbs the thermal expansion and contraction stresses of these metals. Its high strength and permanent sealing ability prevents tampering, accidental damage and loosening of joints that could lead to hydrogen leaks.
