Threaded connections 

Thread pastes form a solid, stable film on screw-thread flanks and screw heads. 

They prevent seizure of parts subjected to high service temperatures. Under normal conditions, 90% of the torque applied during tightening is absorbed by friction in screw threads and under screw heads. Only 10% of the torque is used to achieve the tightening torque. 

Pastes make it possible to subsequently disassemble parts without damaging their threads. 

The lower the coefficient of friction (determined by the thread COF and the under-head COF), the higher the screw tension and the greater the tightening torque.
